Reeve Frosler speaks on Chiefs contract talks

Kaizer Chiefs defender Reeve Frosler has opened up about his contract talks with the Soweto giants, with the current deal at the club expiring at the end of the season.

Frosler has been with Amakhosi since the 2018/19 season when he joined from now-defunct Bidvest Wits.

The 27-year-old had been one of the regular starters under coach Nasreddine Nabi until his recent injury setback. His last match was during the goalless draw against Cape Town City FC on 12 March in the Betway Premiership.

There has been considerable speculation surrounding the future of the right-back’s contract with the club. Reports from SABC Sport reveal that after negotiations, Frosler and the club have tentatively agreed on a new deal in principle.

Speaking to the media in Polokwane on Friday afternoon, Frosler expressed his desire to remain at Amakhosi but confirmed that nothing has been finalised.

“So yeah, my contract is coming to an end soon. What I can say is that I can’t say much about it. [I] just got to see what happens in the next few months in the near future,” he said.

“It’s been the club I love playing for. It’s been up and down, but one thing is that the club is professionally run, and you want to play for this club.

“I don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t want to play for this club. Whether I get the opportunity to stay here for longer, it would be lovely, and if I don’t, I will accept it and just be positive with whatever current deal expiring at the end of the season,” added Frosler.

The 27-year-old has played 21 games in all competitions this season with three assists to show for his attacking abilities on the wing, even though Chiefs have been poor defensively.
