Nabi makes honest admission about CAF inter-club spot ambitions

Following their 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy on Saturday, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has made an honest admission about the club’s CAF inter-club spot prospects.

Amakhosi dropped valuable points after leading for the better part of the match. They remain at position eight in the Betway Premiership with six matches to go.

But their fate for a finish in the top three will depend on the results of other teams. They are six points behind TS Galaxy, who currently occupy the CAF Confederation Cup spot.

Speaking after the match at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, Nabi admitted that their continental football ambitions could be in jeopardy.

“About finishing in the top three, we feel that we need to take it game by game,” he said.

“We have to be honest. It’s going to be very difficult because we are losing or we have lost points we shouldn’t have lost.

“But we are going to take it game by game and go all out and see how and where we finish the league,” he said.

Nabi feels they could have sealed the match in the early stages but they were let down by some poor finishing.

“Unfortunately, it was a frustrating game. While we feel that we controlled the game, especially in the first half, maybe the opponent pushed more in the second half. We could have killed the game early.

“The times that the opponent [Galaxy] were dangerous during the set pieces. Ultimately, it was a frustrating game, and we felt that we wanted to get the three points badly, and we had that opportunity to get the three points.”
