Latest on Inacio Miguel fitness ahead of crucial Nedbank Cup clash

Kaizer Chiefs are anxiously awaiting an update on defender Inacio Miguel’s fitness after he was forced off during their 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy in the Betway Premiership.
The Angolan’s potential absence casts a shadow over their preparations for the pivotal Nedbank Cup semifinal against Mamelodi Sundowns this Sunday.
Miguel, a mainstay in Chiefs’ defence this season with 26 starts across all competitions, appeared to sustain an injury in the second half against Galaxy.
His departure immediately preceded Galaxy’s equalising goal. The timing of the injury is particularly concerning, as Amakhosi are desperate to end their decade-long trophy drought.
With Rushwin Dortley already sidelined for the remainder of the season, Miguel’s experience and leadership are crucial. Given Msimango has stepped up admirably alongside Miguel, forming a solid defensive partnership.

HOW SERIOUS IS INACIO MIGUEL’S INJURY
While the sight of Miguel leaving the field sparked fears of a serious injury, initial indications suggest it may have been a case of cramp. However, the club’s medical team will conduct a thorough assessment throughout the week to determine his availability for the Sundowns clash.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Miguel, Chiefs received a boost with the return of Tashreeq Morris, who came on as a substitute against Galaxy. Wandile Duba also made his first start since recovering from injury, marking the occasion with a goal.
Chiefs are also hopeful that Thabo Cele will be fit to face Sundowns. He missed the Galaxy match after picking up an injury during their 2-1 loss to Golden Arrows.
Should Miguel not make the team over the weekend, coach Nasreddine Nabi will either play Edmilson Dove at left centre back and Bradley Cross at left back. Alternatively, the Mozambican defender can play left back with Zitha Kwinika slotting in alongside Msimango at centre-back.
