Royal AM boss Shauwn Mkhize is set to give in to the termination of the club’s membership in the PSL, FARPost has established.
The PSL Board of Governors [NSL member clubs] will hold a meeting on Thursday, 10 April to vote on the expulsion of the KwaZulu-Natal-based club.
This meeting follows a recommendation last Wednesday from the PSL Executive Committee to cancel Royal AM’s league membership due to the club’s inability to fulfill its league obligations.
Sources close to the ‘Thwihli Thwahla’ president have revealed that the Durban-based businesswoman, MaMkhize, has requested to be present at the Board of Governors meeting, which is scheduled to take place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Sandton, starting at 11:00 AM.

FARPost has been informed that ‘MaMkhize’, as she’s popularly known, is expected to address the PSL member clubs, signaling a potential acceptance of the PSL’s decision. She is also expected to apologise for the ongoing issue that began in December 2024 when the club ceased participation in the league.
The Pietermaritzburg-based outfit last played a PSL match on 29 December, when they lost 3-1 to TS Galaxy in the Betway Premiership.
So far this season, they have only played 11 league matches while some other clubs have played as many as 25, making it highly unlikely to be able to complete their remaining fixtures.
Royal AM’s fixtures were suspended by the PSL in January 2025 following the club’s financial difficulties and seizure by SARS, which led to the appointment of a curator. This came after the league sought assurances that the club could fulfill its remaining match commitments.
Meanwhile, the attempted acquisition of Royal AM by Global Investments, linked to the Durban-based businessman Chockalingam Roy Moodley failed after the winning bidder’s inability to complete the payment within the stipulated period.
Interestingly, ‘MaMkhize’, who’s seemingly ready for a new chapter in football, was seen attending the Ingwenyama Cup final in Eswatini between Moneni Pirates and Royal Leopard during the past weekend. Wearing the colours of Moneni Pirates, hinted a potential association with the Eswatini club.
