PSL BOG decides on Royal AM status

The Premier Soccer League’s Board of Governors [BOG] have voted in favour of the expulsion of Royal AM from the Betway Premiership.
The BOG convened at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Thursday following a recommendation by the PSL Exco last week.
The league’s executive committee made the recommendation after the club was put under curatorship last year over the tax affairs between owner Shawn Mkhize and SARS.

“The executive committee has resolved to recommend the cancellation of the membership of Royal to the Board of Governors (BoG) of the league in accordance with article 10.16 and/or 10.14 and or 14.6 of the NSL constitution,” reads the circular dated 2 April 2025.
The KZN-based club failed to honour both their Betway Premiership as well as their Nedbank Cup fixtures. Earlier during the season the club was also expelled from the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC]. The last time they played an official match was on 29 December in the 3-1 defeat against TS Galaxy at Harry Gwala Stadium.
