Fadlu Davids wins another accolade in Tanzania

SA coach Fadlu Davids has won another accolade in the Tanzanian top-flight following a good run with Simba SC.

Davids has been named the NBC Premier League Coach of the Month for March. Under the guidance of the former Orlando Pirates coach, Simba won two games and scored nine goals without conceding in March.

Simba SC defeated Coastal Union 3-0 away from home on 1 March and went on to beat Dodoma Jiji 6-0 at home on 14 March 2025.

Due to commitments in the CAF inter-club competition, Simba only played two games in March. The club has since advanced to the Confederation Cup semi-finals, where they will take on Betway Premiership outfit Stellenbosch FC.

In addition, this is Davids’ second Coach of the Month accolade this season, as he secured his first in August 2024.

SIMBA SC’S POSITION ON THE NBC PREMIER LEAGUE LOG STANDINGS

As things stand, Simba are placed second in the NBC Premier League table with 57 points after 22 matches. In those 22 encounters, the club registered 18 wins, drew three, and only suffered one defeat.

The Davids-coached side is 10 points behind the log leaders Young Africans SC. However, Simba still has three games in hand.

Since joining the Tanzanian giants in July 2024, Davids has performed exceptionally well and brought the art of winning games to the team.

Simba’s next assignment will be in the Confederation Cup semi-finals against Stellies on Sunday, 20 April, at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The kick-off time for the game between Simba and Stellenbosch will be confirmed in due course.

The return-leg will be played in South Africa on the 27th of April, a special day in Mzansi, which is the Freedom Day holiday.
