Former Kaizer Chiefs lethal striker Collins Mbesuma has revealed the approach Amakhosi must take against Mamelodi Sundowns in Sunday’s Nedbank Cup semi-final clash.

Masandawana will welcome the Soweto giants at Loftus Versfield Stadium in Tshwane. The much-anticipated semi-final tie between the two teams will kick off at 18:00.

COLLINS MBESUMA DISCLOSES THE APPROACH CHIEFS MUST APPLY AGAINST MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

Mbesuma stated that the Chiefs could turn things around against Sundowns if they approach the match with a strong desire to prove a point and determination to win, which he says was important during his time with the club.

The former Zambian forward was reflecting on his own experiences, having scored a hat-trick against the Tshwane-based team in an exhilarating seven-goal match at Loftus Stadium during the 2004/05 season.

Known as ‘Ntofontofo’, he believes tha Chiefs has talented players who are capable of standing their ground and getting the job done against the Brazilian team.

โ€œPlaying against Sundowns was one of my exciting moments because we always wanted to prove a point. The current team must adopt a similar approach to what we had. They just need to give it their all and leave everything on the field,โ€ said Mbesuma.

โ€œI know Sundowns have been dominating and doing well, but I believe that anything can happen in a cup game. Chiefs can turn their season around with a win. They need to approach the match with a cup game mindset and a determination to come out victorious.

“Iโ€™m confident that they have the talent to go out there and make a statement. It’s time for them to step up and show what they’re capable of.”
