Durban City FC stumbled in the Motsepe Foundation Championship title race while Cape Town Spurs continued their fight to survive the relegation axe.

The KZN-based side suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat against Highbury FC at Gelvandale Stadium on Saturday afternoon. As a result, Durban City failed to collect maximum points in two matches in a row after playing a 1-1 draw against AmaTuks last weekend.

Despite going two games without claiming victory, Durban City remains at the summit of the league table with 46 points after 25 matches.

The Farook Kadodia-owned team is leading second-placed Casric Stars by six points. The Mpumalanga-based side closed the gap on Durban City after playing to a 1-1 draw against Baroka FC on Friday at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.
