After helping Simba SC storm into the CAF Confederations last four, coach Fadlu Davids ushered the team into another semi-final in Tanzania in a low-key weekend for SA stars abroad.
While the rest of the South African stars and coaches had a below-par weekend, the former Orlando Pirates assistant coach kept punching above his weight.

In the English Championship, Lyle Foster was not in the team, as Burnley kept their promotion sojourn on course. They beat Norwich City FC 2-1 in a match played at Turf Moor on Friday night. Goals from Hannibal Mejbri and Jaidon Anthony left Burnley in second position with 88 points. They are tied on the same number of points with log leaders Leeds United.
In North Africa, Rulani Mokwena, whose reign at Wydad AC is set to end this season, helped the Red Castle earn a point in the Casablanca Derby. On Saturday night, they played out to a 1-1 draw with Raja Club Athletic. Thembinkosi Lorch was in the starting team, while Cassius Mailula was on the bench.
FAGRIE LAKAY ASSISTS AS CERAMICA CLEOPATRA GRABS KEY WIN
In Egypt, striker Fagrie Lakay provided an assist as Ceramica Cleopatra beat Pharco in a match played at Harras El-Hedoud Stadium on Saturday. Lakay has featured in 24 matches for the club, where he has now provided six assists and scored four goals.

In Tunisia, Elias Mokwana was not in the squad as Esperance Tunis got some respite after being knocked out of the CAF Champions League by Mamelodi Sundowns. They beat EGS Gafsa 1-0 in a league match staged at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi. Rodrigo Rodrigues was the goal-scorer.
In addition, Khanyisa Mayo was not in action this weekend. His Algerian outfit CR Belouizdad is preparing to take on El Bayadh in the semi-finals of the Algerian Cup. The match will be played on Tuesday at 19h00 at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium.
In the Major League Soccer [MLS], Bafana Bafana forward Bongokuhle Hlongwane played 54 minutes as Minnesota United drew 0-0 with Toronto FC at BMO Fields on Sunday morning. Hlongwane received a yellow card in the tie.
Moreover, coach Bradley Carnell and defender Olwethu Makhanya were on the losing end on Sunday morning. Carnell’s Philadelphia Union suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of New York City FC. In this one, Makhanya received a yellow card before he was pulled out in the 86th minute.
FADLU DAVIDS MAKES IT INTO ANOTHER SEMI-FINAL
In Tanzania, coach Fadlu Davids kept his winning streak on course. After storming into the CAF Confederations semi-finals, Fadlu Davids kept his rich vein of form as they beat Mbeya City 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The convincing win was enough to sail them through to the CRDB Bank Federation Cup semi-finals. Having played second fiddle to Young Africans in the league, Davids will hope his team can get some respite in the CAF Confed Cup. He will also be targeting the CRDB Bank Federation Cup.
Furthermore, Percy Tau played the whole match as his Qatar SC were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Shahaniya SC. The match was played at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium on Friday night.
In Romania, Siyabonga Ngezana played 90 minutes as FCSB drew 0-0 with CS Universitatea Craiova. The match was played at the Ion Oblemenco Stadium on Sunday night. Additionally, Gift Links played 89 minutes as Aarhus Gymnastikforening drew 1-1 with Midtjylland. The encounter was staged at the Ceres Park Vejlby on Sunday night.
