Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has identified unique qualities that make the club’s striker Wandile Duba special.
Duba’s goal-scoring prowess has kept him at the top of the Chiefs’ leaderboard in all competitions, even though he was sidelined for 49 days due to injury between January and March.
The young striker has scored six goals in all competitions and provided three assists. His crucial goal on Sunday brought Amakhosi back into contention during the Nedbank Cup semi-final at the Loftus Stadium.
Teboho Mokoena had given Mamelodi Sundowns the lead with a beautifully executed free-kick. In the closing moments of the match, Ashley Du Preez netted the winner, propelling Amakhosi into the final.
Following the 20-year-old’s heroics in the cup competition, Nabi has identified qualities that set the academy graduate apart.

‘DUBA GIVES HIS ALL’ – NABI
“When he’s on the field, he gives his all,” Nabi said. “You can tell he loves Kaizer Chiefs and works hard for his teammates. “I think he has a lot of quality and technical abilities. He is very calm [in front of goals], he has good control and good shooting technique.”
Nabi expressed a positive intention to focus on enhancing the player’s mental strength, highlighting it as an important area for growth and further development. He believes the Lenasia-born forward “has everything to go far in his career.
“If his development continues positively, he has the ability to go far in his career,” added the Chiefs coach.
Duba could still increase his tally this season with six games remaining in the league. Chiefs visit Chippa United for a Betway Premiership encounter on Saturday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Thereafter, they host Marumo Gallants at the FNB Stadium before the Soweto Derby early in May.
Chiefs and Pirates will clash on two successive weekends in the league and Nedbank Cup final.
