Kaizer Chiefs are now six points away from clinching their historic DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] title following their 3-1 win over Richards Bay FC on Saturday.

The match between Amakhosi and the Natal Rich Boyz took place at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

As a result Chiefs need six points from their final three games to be crowned the DDC champions for the first time in the club’s history.

Currently, the Vela Khumalo-coached side are placed at the top of the table with 61 points after 25 matches. They are one point ahead of second-placed Stellenbosch FC, who defeated AmaZulu FC 2-0 at Idas Valley Stadium.

To add to that, Chiefs have played one less game than the Cape Winelands-based outfit Stellenbosch as the title race looks set to go down to the wire.

Stellenbosch FC, who are defending champions, have already won the DDC title on two occasions. They clinched it in the 2021/22 season and again in the 2023/24 campaign.

Chiefs will be hoping to maintain their impressive run in their quest to win the DDC title until the final day, 4 May 2025.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates suffered a 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns at Isak Steyl Stadium, whereas Golden Arrows secured a 2-1 win over Polokwane City FC at home.

On Sunday, Sekhukhune United played to a 0-0 draw with Cape Town City FC at Isak Steyl Stadium, while Marumo Gallants hammered SuperSport United 6-2 at Dr. Molemela Stadium.
