Magesi FC head coach Owen Da Gama has disclosed what has been beneficial for them while playing at Seshego Stadium, after the club’s sixth straight home victory.

‘ODG’, as he is popularly known, spoke following Dikwena Tsa Meetse’s 2-1 win over TS Galaxy in a Betway Premiership clash at Seshego Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday afternoon. John Mokone and Delano Abrahams found the back of the net for Magesi, while Kamogelo Sebelebele scored the sole goal for the Mpumalanga club.

As a result, Magesi are now placed 11th on the table with 29 points from 25 outings.

Da Gama’s impressive results with the Limpopo-based outfit earned him the Betway Premiership Coach of the Month for March, while the club captain, Elvis Chipezeze, walked away with the Player of the Month award.

HAS MAGESI FC TURNED SESHEGO STADIUM INTO A FORTRESS? OWEN DA GAMA ANSWERS

Having won six consecutive home games at Seshego Stadium, Da Gama insists that they are yet to turn the stadium into a slaughterhouse [fortress].

He went on to state that their advantage at Seshego Stadium comes from being the only team playing there, which makes them more accustomed to the venue.

“Six wins are not enough, you know. You have to win at least 12 games, and then you can say it is a slaughterhouse,” said Da Gama.

“But we have been doing well here. We are the only team playing here, so that gives us the freedom to know that it is our home ground.

“We have been waiting for a long time because we found it very difficult to win at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. The reason we found it so difficult to win games at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium is that there are so many teams playing there. So, you are just another visitor there.”

The 63-year-old coach continued: “But when it is here [Seshego Stadium], we know that this is our home ground, and we need to work hard to make the people of Seshego, Polokwane, and Limpopo as a whole very proud.”
