Chippa United have been found guilty by the PSL for failing to honour their DStv Diski Challenge fixture against Kaizer Chiefs in February 2025.

As a result, the Soweto giants have moved four points clear at the top of the standings and now need just three points from their remaining two matches to clinch the DDC title.

The DDC clash between Chippa and Chiefs, set for Saturday, February 1, 2025, was abandoned due to the Chilli Boys’ non-appearance. Amakhosi travelled to the Buffalo City Stadium in the Eastern Cape, only to find their opponents absent.

This incident sparked considerable frustration among the Soweto giants supporters. They took to social media to demand answers and sanctions against the Gqeberha-based side.

PSL’S DECISION ON CHIPPA AND CHIEFS ABANDONED GAME

The PSL succumbed to a decision to award Chiefs three points with a 3-0 scoreline.

As a result, Chiefs extended their lead at the top of the table with 64 points after 26 games. Therefore, they are now four points ahead of the second-placed Stellenbosch FC, who are the defending champions.

Stellies have won the DDC title two times. They clinched it first in the 2021/22 season and again in the 2023/24 campaign.

The Vela Khumalo-coached side needs three points from their final two matches to be crowned the DDC champions for the first time in the clubโ€™s history.

Amakhosi will be hoping to maintain their impressive run in their quest to win the DDC title without four of their key players, who are out on national duty.

The four players are Takalani Mazhamba, Gopolang Taunyana, Sifiso Timba, and Naledi Hlongwane. They are in Egypt with Amajita for the 2025 AFCON Under-20 tournament.

Chiefs’ next DDC assignment is against Magesi FC on Saturday, 26 April, at Dobsonville Stadium. The game will start at 10:00.

In addition, Chippa were also found guilty of fielding an ineligible player in their match against Marumo Gallants. The tie took place on February 22, this year. A decision was taken to award Bahlabane ba Ntwa three points, with a final score of 3-0.
