Kaizer Chiefs are the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] champions for the very first time in the club’s history following a decisive 3-0 win over Magesi FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday morning.

Goals from Imaad Hendricks, Nkosana Mbuthu, Thulani Mabaso were enough to earn Amakhosi maximum points at home.

Chiefs came into this match needing only three points from their remaining two matches to win the DDC title, after moving four points clear at the top of the standings.

This came after Chippa United were found guilty by the PSL. The Chilli Boys failed to honour their DDC fixture against the Soweto giants on February 1, 2025. A decision was taken to award Amakhosi three points, with a final score of 3-0.

The Glamour Boys are crowned the DDC champions with one game to spare, having collected 67 points from 27 games.

Chiefs managed to seal the DDC title without four of their key players. The four troops are set to represent Amajita at the CAF 2025 AFCON Under-20 tournament in Egypt.

Goalkeeper Takalani Mazhamba, defenders Gopolang Taunyana and Sifiso Timba, and striker Naledi Hlongwane are the four players out on national duty.

KAIZER CHIEFS DETHRONE STELLENBOSCH FC AS DDC CHAMPIONS

Chiefs have now dethroned Stellenbosch FC, who were the DDC defending champions. The Cape Winelands-based outfit has clinched the title twice, first in the 2021/22 campaign and again in the 2023/24 season.

Sadly, Stellies succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to Marumo Gallants this morning at Idas Valley Sports Ground. However, the club remain in second place with 60 points after 27 matches.

The final matches of the 2024/25 DDC season, will be played on Saturday, 3 May, where Chiefs will officially lift the trophy.

Chiefs’ last game of the campaign will be against AmaZulu FC away from home on Saturday, May. The showdown will take place at King Zwelithini Stadium, with the kick-off set for 10:00.
