Kaizer Chiefs mentor Nasreddine Nabi has disclosed what he told his players following the disappointing 2-1 defeat to Marumo Gallants in their Betway Premiership tie on Saturday afternoon.
The match between Amakhosi and Bahlabane ba Ntwa took place at the FNB Stadium in Soweto.
Chiefs were the first side to break the deadlock through Glody Lilepo in the 10th minute of the showdown. However, Gallants were never discouraged as they came back to score two goals courtesy of Matome Mathiane [41st minute] and Daniel Msendami [70th minute].
As a result of the defeat, the Soweto giants dropped outside the top eight to the ninth spot on the log standings with 30 points after 25 games.
The Glamour Boys have now gone six league matches without tasting a win in the league. The last time they won a league game was against Magesi FC on 4 March 2025.

THE CONVERSATION NASREDDINE NABI HAD WITH HIS CHIEFS TROOPS AFTER GALLANTS LOSS
Chiefs coach Nabi explained his delayed arrival at the press conference, revealing that he had a longer-than-usual discussion with his players immediately after the game. He noted that team morale appeared low, with some players showing signs of discouragement.
“First of all, my apologies for the delay of the press conference. It is true that we had a talk with the players. After such a difficult position we are in, you can see that everybody is hurt, feeling down, and showing a lack of confidence,” said Nabi.
“You could feel that some [players] are giving up. What I told them is that there is no time to blame anyone or to regret what has happened because today’s results [referring to Saturday’s outcome against Marumo] cannot be changed.
“We have two very important games in front of us that can still save our season. The [Soweto] Derby is coming next weekend, and there is the final of the Nedbank Cup. Everyone needs to assess themselves honestly and reflect on how they perform in training and during games. We need to stick together and approach this week’s preparation with our heads up.”
Chiefs’ next fixture will be the sold-out Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, 3 March, at the FNB Stadium. The much-awaited encounter will start at 15:00.
