Kaizer Chiefs are set to miss one of their key attackers for the highly-anticipated Soweto Derby clash against Orlando Pirates.

The two Soweto rivals will face off in the Betway Premiership at FNB Stadium on Sunday, 03 May. Chiefs will host Pirates after suffering a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Marumo Gallants at home this past weekend.

Amakhosi are winless in their last six league matches, playing three draws against Cape Town City FC, TS Galaxy, and Chippa United. They lost against Richards Bay FC, Golden Arrows, and Gallants.

The loss to the Bloemfontein-based side, Gallants, saw the Chiefs drop to ninth place on the league table with 30 points in 25 matches.

KAIZER CHIEFS SUFFER WANDILE DUBA SETBACK

With the Glamour Boys aiming to return to winning ways against their rivals Pirates, they will be without the services of Wandile Duba.

Duba accumulated his fourth yellow card of the season in a match against Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, and he will serve a one-match suspension.

The 20-year-old is the top goal scorer for Chiefs this campaign, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 23 games across all competitions.

Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has shown faith in Duba to lead the attacking line in recent matches following Ranga Chivaviro’s unconvincing run of form in front of goal.

The utility player was also instrumental in sending the Naturena-based side to the final of the Nedbank Cup. Interestingly, they will face the Buccaneers on Saturday, 10 May at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

In the absence of Duba, Chiefs will have Ranga Chivaviro and Tashreeq Morris as options in the striking department.

The former Marumo Gallants striker, Chivaviro, has five goals under his name in 22 matches in all competitions, while Morris is yet to open his scoring account since joining Amakhosi in January 2025 from SuperSport United.
