Two players have been withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana CHAN squad set to face Malawi with instructions to leave their flight at the Polokwane International Airport a mere ten minutes before takeoff.
This comes after Molefi Ntseki named his squad on Saturday, 26 April. The squad will take on the neighbours, Malawi, in the final round of the CHAN qualifiers.
The SA men’s national football team will lock horns with Malawi in the first-leg on Saturday, 3 May, away from home. The match will be played at the Republic Stadium in Lilongwe. Meanwhile, the second-leg encounter is scheduled to take place at Loftus Stadium on Sunday, 11 May 2025.
The Bafana squad assembled for camp in Johannesburg on Monday, 28 April. The team will travel to Malawi on Thursday, 1 May 2025.
The Ntseki-coached side progressed to the final round of the CHAN qualifiers after defeating Egypt 4-2 on aggregate. The two-legged clashes were played in March this year.
WHO ARE THE TWO PLAYERS WITHDRAWN FROM BAFANA BAFANA CHAN SQUAD
Polokwane City FCย duo of Rodney Maphangule and Mokibelo Ramabu have been withdrawn from the Bafana CHAN squad.

Maphangule and Ramabu were instructed by PLK City to leave their plane at Polokwane International Airport just ten minutes before departure, reportedly due to the club needing them for their league match on Friday, although the exact reason remains unclear.
The two players were meant to fly to Johannesburg, where they would join the rest of the squad for a camp.
As a result, the two players are expected to report for the club’s training grounds instead. PLK City will be in action on Friday in the Betway Premiership against AmaZulu FC.
The match between Usuthu and the Limpopo club will take place at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi. The kick-off is set for 19:30.
Rise and Shine will then go on to play their last two league games against Cape Town City FC at home on 17 May, and Kaizer Chiefs away on 24 May 2025.
Currently, PLK City are placed seventh on the log standings with 32 points after 25 matches.
