Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has discussed a similarity between his side and the Betway Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns.ย
Davids has had an impressive season with Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC, having taken over as head coach at the start of the campaign, succeeding Abdelhak Benchikha.
He has led the club to its maiden CAF Confederation Cup final, where they will face off against the flying high Moroccan club RS Berkane.
Simba are second in the Tanzanian Premier League standings, having accumulated 57 points from 22 matches so far, four games behind the log leaders Young Africans, who have collected 70 points.
Davids has stated that even if he receives tempting offers, he remains committed to the project at Simba SC, which he began at the start of the current season.
He also revealed his desire to be part of building the success the club aims to achieve, including the objective of dominating the CAF Champions League โ a goal similar to the one Dr Patrice Motsepe [now CAF president] expressed when he bought Sundowns.

FADLU DAVIDS ON SIMBA – โOUR OBJECTIVE IS TO DOMINATE CHAMPIONS LEAGUEโ
โWeโre committed to Simba. We started this project, and weโre only eight or nine months into it,โ said Davids
โOur objective as a club is to dominate the Champions League. Weโre on course to qualify for the [CAF] Champions League. That is the vision of our president [Mohammed Dewji], very similar to what Dr Patrice Motsepe did when he bought Sundowns. Our president has huge ambitions to dominate Africa.
โWeโre only baby steps into the project. So, thereโs still a lot to come, and with our young squad, we are not yet at our full potential.
โThey have gained a lot of experience of getting this far in this competition [final of the Confed Cup]. But next season, we have to strengthen [the team] and be ready for a higher level, that is Champions League football.โ
