After initially suggesting that Lehlohonolo Seema had joined the technical team of Lesotho’s Bantu FC, the club has now clarified the arrangement.
Seema parted ways with Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United exactly one month ago.
On Tuesday, reports emerged that Seema was appointed as the senior coach of Bantu FC with immediate effect. A club statement indicated that the former Polokwane City FC mentor would work with Malawian head coach Charles Manda for the remainder of the season.
However, the club has since apologised for the misunderstanding created by the statement, specifying that Seema is engaged in a “supportive capacity” to the head coach. The revised statement confirmed that his involvement is on a “temporary basis.”
WHAT DOES BANTU FC’S NEW STATEMENT SAY ABOUT SEEMA’S ROLE

Headlined ‘CLARIFICATION’, the statement reads as follows: “Following the club’s recent announcement regarding the involvement of Mr. Lehlohonolo Seema with our team, we understand that some confusion has arisen concerning his role.
“We wish to clarify that Mr. Seema has joined the club in a supportive capacity to assist the current Head Coach, Mr Charles Manda, who continues to serve as the Head Coach of the team.
“Mr. Seema’s engagement with the club is on a temporary basis as he remains open to pursuing other professional opportunities.
“The club sincerely apologises for any misunderstanding caused by the previous announcement.”
Seema knows the club quite well, having been contacted by Bantu just two weeks following his departure from Babina Noko. He was asked to assist the team in the final of the People’s Cup.
The ex-Orlando Pirates defender worked with the team for three days before the March 15 final. Bantu emerged victorious in the People’s Cup, narrowly beating Matlama FC 1-0 at Mants’onyane.
Bantu are currently third in the Lesotho Premier League standings, having collected 50 points from 24 matches, seven points behind the league leaders, Lioli FC.
