An organisation representing amateur football clubs has issued an ultimatum to SAFA to settle outstanding payments or face legal action.
The South African Football Clubs Association [SAFOCA] says clubs have not been paid their annual โtravelling allowancesโ for over three years now. ABC Motsepe League clubs get a R30,000 travelling allowance from the association, while Womenโs SASOL League clubs receive R15,000 each.
According to SAFOCA, the clubs are yet to receive the allowances for the past four seasons. The organisation cited the precedent set by SAFA Western Cape Sasol League, which won cases against SAFA in the high court over payment issues.
WHAT ULTIMATUM THE FOOTBALL CLUBS ASSOCIATION HAS ISSUED TO SAFA?
โSAFOCA asserts that member clubs won’t hesitate to take legal action if their demands aren’t met,โ said SAFOCA president Lucas Molefe in a statement.

โWe are asking SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao to address the issue urgently, warning that continued hostility toward teams won’t be tolerated.
โThis situation highlights the ongoing challenges and tensions between SAFA and its member clubs. SAFOCA is calling on SAFA to take immediate action to resolve this issue.
He added: “We have been trying to contact SAFA and its CEO [Lydia Monyepao], but there has been no response. There has not been any communication from SAFA on when they can reimburse those teams.”
SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao couldnโt be reached for a comment.
FOOTBALL MOTHERBODY YET TO MAKE A DECISION ON THE ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE PLAYOFFS

According to reports, SAFA are expected to promote three teams to the Motsepe Foundation Championship for next season. Gauteng and Free State have been tipped as potential hosts for the playoffs.
