Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has spoken about how the recent Royal AM expulsion from the PSL has resonated with his “human side”, sympathising with those affected by the KZN club’s troubles.
The Chiefs mentor was speaking during the pre-match press conference on Thursday in Melrose ahead of their Betway Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates.
The two sides will meet on Saturday, 3 May at the FNB Stadium in Soweto.
He was asked about his thoughts on the impact of PSL nullifying all Royal AM’s results after the latter’s membership was terminated.
Chiefs drew 2-2 with the KZN side in November last year, and that result ultimately had no bearing on the standings due to the club’s expulsion.
While acknowledging the negative impact of a one-point deduction, Nabi stated he felt for those who were affected, having lost their jobs in the situation.

NABI EXPRESSES SORROW FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY ROYAL AM SITUATION
“The impact has been negative or positive for any team in the PSL because of the Royal AM situation,” said Nabi. “But I think the human side of that situation that has impacted me a lot because that team had players and other people that were working for it.
“They were getting the bread out of their work, and in the middle of the season, everything stops. That’s very hard for those people that were counting on that for the lives of their families.
“And I feel that’s the biggest impact that is on the families of the Royal AM players and personnel.”
Amakhosi are currently ninth on the log standings, having accumulated 30 points from 25 matches so far.
As a result of Royal AM’s eviction, the league will be finished on 28 matches now instead of the usual 30. Chiefs have three matches remaining now.
