Richards Bay FC co-coach Papi Zothwane has shared his thoughts on Magesi FC’s turnaround since his departure from the Limpopo club in January.
Zothwane was serving as an assistant to Clinton Larsen, who resigned as the head coach of the club live on national TV in December 2024, leaving Dikwena Tsa Meetse languishing at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table.
He [Zothwane] went on to join the Natal Rich Boyz, where he is working together with Gabriel Ronnie and Gumede Siboniso as co-coaches.
Magesi have now moved out of the relegation zone under the tutelage of well-travelled mentor Owen Da Gama. The club is now placed 11th on the log standings with 28 points after 24 matches.
In addition, Magesi have turned the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane into a slaughterhouse, having secured six straight home victories.

WHAT PAPI ZOTHWANE SAID ABOUT MAGESI FC’S FINE FORM IN THE LEAGUE
Zothwane stated that he is not surprised by how his former club has turned the tables around, revealing that Magesi has a group of hardworking players.
The former Polokwane City FC coach, Zothwane, was part of the Magesi technical team that won the 2024/25 Carling Knockout Cup trophy when they defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the final at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.
“Definitely, I mean, that team has hardworking players and things that they have achieved while I was there,” said Zothwane.
“They have a good team. It’s not something that one would think there is nothing they can’t do. They have a coach who has been there. For me, I’m happy for them.
“But for now, I’m working at Richards Bay. So, my focus is on my current team, making sure that we survive at the end of the season.”
