With three games for the club to re-write their own history, Motsepe Foundation Championship promotion hopefuls Orbit College FC have identified what has worked for them this season.

Orbit are currently third on the log standings, three points behind log leaders Durban City FC.

The North West side stands a good chance of securing a spot in the PSL Promotional Playoffs at the end of the season. They could possibly also cause an upset and secure automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership if leaders Durban City slip up.

The club is only in its second season in the National First Division [NFD] after their promotion from the SAFA ABC Motsepe League.

FIRST SEASON LESSONS: ORBIT COLLEGE FC’S FOUNDATION FOR FUTURE SUCCESS

Club assistant coach Kabelo Machete has acknowledged that the experience gained from the first season has been vital for them.

“Look, I think the main reason is that we have matured. If you look at this time of the season, the number of goals that we have, you look at the number of goals that we conceded last season, there is a massive improvement. This season, we have graduated and matured as a team in the league,โ€ Machete told FARPost.

However, Machete has also warned against being carried away, especially in the critical stages of the season.

“We are taking it one game at a time. The fact is, it is still in our hands. We are not depending on other teams to beat other teams. If we win our two games, we will be in the playoffs,โ€ he added.

โ€œIf we also win our remaining three games and Durban City does stumble, then we might sneak on the last day of the season and win it. But for now, we are taking it one game at a time and focusing on our next opponent, Baroka FC.

โ€œWe are not playing the JDR Stars or Leruma United game in our minds. We are focusing on the Baroka game and tackling it as it comes.โ€
