FARPost has established that Golden Arrows have fired two of their long-serving players, Knox Mutizwa and Thabani Zuke.

The duo has been integral to the Abafana Besโ€™thende set-up for a significant period, and Mutizwa and Zuke were key figures for several coaches who have led the Durban-based side in recent years.ย

Mutizwa’s journey with Golden Arrows began with a loan spell from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits in January 2017. It then changed into a permanent signing at the beginning of the 2017/18 season.

He had arrived in South Africa and joined Wits in 2016. He signed for the club from the Zimbabwean PSL club, The Highlanders.

During his tenure with Arrows, Mutizwa contributed significantly with 63 goals and 23 assists across 231 matches. This season alone, the forward has featured in 14 games in all competitions, scoring three times and setting up one goal.

On the other hand, Zuke has been with the clubโ€™s first team since his promotion at the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign. He was part of the reserve team that won the Multichoice Diski Challenge [now DDC] in 2018.

Zuke has played 93 matches for Arrows, contributing one goal and one assist. This season, the 26-year-old has featured in 12 games across all competitions.

WHY ARROWS HAVE SHOWN MUTIZWA AND ZUKE THE EXIT DOOR

FARPost has been informed that the club has dismissed the two players with immediate effect.

Sources close to the website suggest that Zuke’s dismissal came after Arrows learned of his alleged pre-contract agreement with AmaZulu FC, their cross-city rivals.

Meanwhile, Mutizwa was let go due to โ€œbelow par performancesโ€ and undisclosed reasons, according to the insiders.

Meanwhile, Arrows have been active in the market, bringing in a couple of players from Royal AM after the PSL terminated the latterโ€™s membership.

They have signed Ayanda Jiyane, Xolani Ngcobo, Siphesihle Msomi, Thabo Matlaba, Philani Sithebe, Shadrack Kobedi, Sabelo Sithole, and Ayabulela Maxwele.
