Banyana Banyana captain Refiloe Jane has reacted after scoring her maiden goal for TS Galaxy Queens in a Hollywoodbets Super League match on Sunday.
Jane made her long-awaited return to the pitch in March after a 10-month injury spell. Having played for Canberra United, AC Milan and US Sassuolo, her arrival came with so much expectations.
Rightly, she put up a commanding performance against the University of Pretoria on Sunday. They dominated and deservedly accounted for a 3-0 win courtesy of goals by Nicole Michael, Nomvula Kgoale, and Jane.
WHAT REFILOE JANE SAID
Speaking after the match, the 32-year-old expressed her joy at finally finding the back of the net following her long road to recovery.
“I am very happy that I managed to score my first goal of the season, my first goal for the team. Hopefully more goals to come,” she told club media.
“It wasn’t going to be possible if it weren’t for the team, we’ve been working very hard on set pieces and on scoring goals. So, we are happy we managed to score all three goals and kept a clean sheet also.”
“I’m happy that I am able to play again after a long layoff due to an injury. And I’m grateful to my teammates, the coaches, and everyone that I worked with coming back from the injury. It wasn’t just myself, I worked with a lot of people who helped me get back into the game, and I’m very grateful for that.”

“I’m really happy with the environment. The girls are amazing, and they’ve made it easy for me to settle in.
“Above everything else, the team spirit and cohesion are really important to me as an individual – that is why this was one of the teams I was able to join and settle in.”
TS Galaxy Queens currently sit fourth on the log, eight points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.
