Miguel on the shared pressure facing Nabi and Chiefs players

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi

Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel has spoken on the shared pressure facing coach Nasreddine Nabi and the club’s players following an inconsistent run of results.

The Soweto giants have gone seven Betway Premiership games without tasting victory. Amakhosi last won a league match against Magesi FC on 4 March 2025.

Chiefs are currently placed ninth on the log standings, having accumulated 30 points after 26 games played. With Nabi at the helm, the Soweto giants have registered eight wins, six draws, and suffered 12 defeats.

In addition, Chiefs are in danger of missing out on a top-eight spot for the second successive season, as they finished 10th on the table last season with 36 points from 30 outings.

Amakhosi are left with two games to play in the current campaign. They will face Sekhukhune United away from home on 17 May and Polokwane City FC at home on 24 May 2025.

‘IT’S NOT ONLY THE COACH WHO IS UNDER PRESSURE’, SAYS INACIO MIGUEL

Miguel stated that it is not only the coach who should be blamed for the club’s inconsistent results, but the players also need to take responsibility.

“It is not only the coach who is under pressure; it is also the players. That is what people need to understand. The coach doesn’t play; we play,” said Miguel.

“We are the ones who make mistakes, and we are the ones who achieve victory. I think the pressure should be shared by the coach and the players. We have to take that responsibility as well because it is not only the coaches who make bad or good decisions; it is the players as well.

“I take responsibility for the bad season, not just the coach. It’s a new season for the coach and a new process. There are new things to teach the players and to help us understand his ideas for playing. We also need to be patient and expect that we can create something different. The most important thing is to believe in the process.”
