Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has responded to the rumours that head coach Nasreddine Nabi will leave Amakhosi at the end of the season.
The Tunisian tactician is fresh from breaking the nine-year trophy drought with the Soweto giants after clinching the 2025 Nedbank Cup.
Chiefs claimed an impressive 2-1 victory over their bitter rivals, Orlando Pirates, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this past Saturday to lift the last domestic trophy of the season.
Nabi has won the cup with Chiefs in his first campaign at the helm after taking over the coaching gig ahead of the 2024 /25 Betway Premiership season.
In the first few months, Nabi has struggled to build a consistent winning team as Chiefs are lying in the bottom half of the league table.
The Naturena-based side is sitting ninth on the log with 30 points in 26 matches, and they will be looking to win all their remaining matches to finish in the top eight.
After Kaizer Chiefs’ Nedbank Cup glory in Durban, the Sunday Times reported that the former Young Africans coach will have his contract terminated at the end of the season.
WHAT MOTAUNG JR SAID ABOUT NABI’S FUTURE AT KAIZER CHIEFS

Motaung Jr has since broken his silence on the future of the coach, revealing that they want to build from the Nedbank Cup success.
“The coach still has another season in his contract with us,” Motaung said on 5FM when asked about the future of Nabi.
“At the same time, after every season, we sit down and do a review. We know that the results in the league have been inconsistent.
“We’ve just been able to achieve a milestone [winning a trophy], so with everything else, we’re moving forward and planning the way forward.
“So we want to saviour this moment moving forward, galvanise the support from the whole team, the players, the technical team, and staff for the mission ahead. So we’re just planning for the future.”
