Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou has spoken out on his future, indicating whether he desires to continue his career with the Soweto giants or explore new horizons.
The skilful midfielder is one of the Amakhosi players who will have their futures decided at the end of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.
Matlou has seen limited game-time at Chiefs under head coach Nasreddine Nabi after suffering a long injury layoff. The 26-year-old has featured in 14 appearances across all competitions and provided two assists.
In the few games that he has played, Matlou has shown a glimpse of a quality player with his good eye for a pass and skills to eliminate defenders.
The former SA junior international is facing tough competition at Chiefs in the attacking midfield position from players such as Mduduzi Shabalala, Gaston Sirino, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, and Mfundo Vilakazi.
The talented midfielder came on as a second-half substitute when Chiefs defeated Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup final at Moses Mabhida Stadium last Saturday, ending their nine-year trophy drought.

WHAT MATLOU SAID ABOUT HIS FUTURE AT KAIZER CHIEFS
With the domestic season ending in the coming weeks, Matlou has revealed that he would love to remain with Amakhosi despite his contract ending in June 2025.
“I would love to stay at Kaizer Chiefs, of course. I’ll be happier and grateful if I were to stay,” Matlou told FARPost. “So being here at Kaizer Chiefs has been good and I would love to achieve good things with this team, but for now, the focus the remaining games.
“We want to do well in these remaining games, collect maximum points, and of course win the Nedbank Cup,” added Matlou. This desire became reality when Chiefs lifted the Nedbank Cup.
His elation was palpable as he was seen at the airport on Sunday, still wearing his matchday kit and proudly displaying his Nedbank Cup gold medal, a sight that continued into Tuesday in trending social media videos.
Matlou has been with the Glamour Boys for three seasons after joining from the now-defunct Maroka Swallows at the start of the 2022/23 campaign.
