Kamohelo Mokotjo breaks silence on Cape Town City exit

Former Cape Town City FC midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo has broken his silence on his unexpected exit from the club.

Mokotjo joined The Citizens at the beginning of the current season after spending two years at fellow Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United.

The highly-rated former Bafana Bafana midfielder returned to the country in 2022 after over a decade of experience playing abroad. He featured 24 times for Cape Town City in all competitions this season.

Despite two crucial encounters to play for the relegation-threatened side before the end of the season, they decided to part ways with Mokotjo.

In addition, CT City also opted to show experienced midfielder Thulani Serero and goalkeeper Elson Ayanda Sithole the exit door.

KAMOHELO MOKOTJOโ€™S LAST WORDS AS HE EXITS BETWAY PREMIERSHIP SIDE

The club has yet to officially issue a statement on the trioโ€™s exit. But the 34-year-old, Mokotjo, took to his official Instagram platform to announce his departure.

โ€œ[I] didn’t expect to be saying goodbye so soon, but we part ways with Cape Town City FC,โ€ wrote Mokotjo.

โ€œThank you to my teammates, the fans, and everyone behind the scenes. Wishing you all the best for the rest of the season and beyond. Looking forward to what’s to come. Thanks for all your support,โ€ he concluded.

The former Brentford FC midfielder did not indicate what his next move could be.

Meanwhile, Cape Town Cityโ€™s fight for survival will continue this coming weekend. They will travel to the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium to face Polokwane City FC. They will need to win their remaining two matches and hope that the other teams in the relegation zone suffer defeats for them to stand a chance of avoiding a play-off spot.

The bottom of the table, CT City, will play its last match in the Western Cape Derby against Stellenbosch FC at the Cape Town Stadium.
