The KwaZulu-Natal-based team has amassed 55 points from 29 matches in the 2024/25 campaign in the National First Division. Durban City has demonstrated consistency in the second tier, winning 16 matches, drawing seven, and suffering six defeats.
As the log leaders, City are just three points ahead of second-placedย Orbit College and require only one point to confirm their automatic promotion to the elite league.

WHAT THE PSL SAID ABOUT MOTSEPE FOUNDATION TROPHY HANDOVER
In a significant twist to the promotion race, PSL has announced that it will delay the trophy handover due to legal matters that may impact the final standings in the Championship.

According to Idiski Times,ย JDR Stars played a match under protest against Durban City after the Farook Kadodia-owned team allegedly fielded Saziso Magawana, who is incorrectly registered.
“It has been the practice of the National Soccer League over the past few years to hand the Motsepe Foundation Championship Cup trophy to the team at the top of the division standings after the last match of the season,” the PSL said in a statement.
“Unfortunately, certain matters referred by Member Clubs in the division to the Prosecutor and/or disciplinary bodies have not yet been finalised. It is not clear to the NSL how, and to what extent, these matters may impact the final standings in the division.
“The League has decided to delay the Cup handover while these matters are being addressed by the appropriate decision-makers.
“The NSL will use its best endeavours, to the extent permissible under the NSL Handbook, to ensure these matters are finalised as expeditiously as possible and will keep Member Clubs informed.”
