JDR Stars boss keen on securing Pirates players on loan

Nditsheni Nemasisi at JDR Stars

In a bid to strengthen their squad for next season, JDR Stars boss Nditsheni Nemasisi has revealed the possibility of approaching Orlando Pirates for loan deals.

JDR Stars have already missed out on gaining promotion to the Betway Premiership next season after going on a slump in the last few games.

The Pretoria-based side is currently sitting seventh on the Motsepe Foundation Championship table with 40 points in 29 matches.

JDR Stars had a promising start to the 2024/25 campaign. However, they have fallen off the league title race, failing to collect maximum points in their last eight games. They last claimed victory on the 11th of March when they defeated AmaTuks 1-0 at Soshanguve Giant Stadium.

Looking ahead to next season, JDR Stars owner and head coach Nditsheni Nemasisi has indicated he may approach Pirates for player loan deals, similar to previous arrangements.

THOSE PLAYERS ARE STRONG’ – NDITSHENI NEMASISI

In the past three seasons, JDR Stars had Azola Tshobeni on loan from Orlando Pirates. The talented attacking midfielder was a regular starter after making 67 league appearances in the NFD, scoring two goals.

“Pirates have good young players who one can look at, we always play them in friendlies. I think this season we played against them five times,” Nemasisi told FARPost.

“Maybe one will have to look at that angle, check if we can’t get three, four, or five players who are under 23 years of age. Those players are strong and they can help us a lot because they are already with the first team of Pirates.”

With Nemasisi not revealing the names of the players they would like to bring on board from the Buccaneers, it remains unclear which young talent JDR Stars will attempt to bring on board for the 2025/26 season.
