Hanover Park FC became the latest team to qualify for the ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs after being crowned the SAFA Western Cape overall champions this past weekend.
Hanover Park defeated Zizwe United 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time on Saturday, 17 May 2025.
The game between Hanover Park and Zizwe took place at Cloetesville Sports Ground in Stellenbosch.
As a result, Hanover Park will represent the Western Cape at the upcoming ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs next month. The venue for the national playoffs will be announced by SAFA in due course.
Hanover Park has joined Kakamas Juventus [Northern Cape], African Warriors [Free State], Midlands Wanderers [KZN], The Bees[Mpumalanga, pending DC outcome], Highlands Park [Gauteng, pending DC outcome], Thames FC [North West, pending DC outcome] as the seven clubs that have already booked their spots in the national playoffs.

Zizwe showed gratitude to its fans for their unwavering support throughout the season.
“End of the road, unfortunate results today [Saturday]. The boys did their best. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our fans who have been with the team from the start of the season until now. What a turnout today as you cheered the boys on,” reads the club’s statement.
“It really is a disappointing result, one which we weren’t hoping for. All the best to Hanover Park FC as they will be representing the province in the playoffs.”
