AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has reacted to being rewarded with a contract extension ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Zwane’s journey with Usuthu began in October last year when he arrived as a co-coach with Vusumuzi Vilakazi, stepping into the shoes of the departed Pablo Franco Martin.
A few months later, in February of this year, Vilakazi’s resignation due to personal issues elevated Zwane to the sole head coach position.
His subsequent performances have clearly impressed Usuthu chairman Sandile Zungu, who publicly confirmed two weeks ago that the former Kaizer Chiefs coach would continue to lead the club in the upcoming season.
ZWANE ON HIS AMAZULU NEW CONTRACT
Reacting to the clubโs decision, Zwane said, โWe started this journey together with coach Kanu [Vusumuzi Vilakazi], we had a long-term plan, but it was always going to be about the results.โ

โWe obviously thank the president for giving us the opportunity to stay longer and showcase our talents as coaches. I think AmaZulu is one of the teams that have given mostly so-called inexperienced coaches the opportunity.
โIt has worked wonders, and also, there have been challenges here and there. Iโd say we embrace the opportunity given by the president. The fact that itโs a project, it also gives us time to implement our ways of doing things and also grow at the same time, growing with the team together, not only us.โ
Zwane expressed delight at being in the top eight, hoping that his side finishes the season within the top half of the Betway Premiership. AmaZulu are currently sixth in the standings with 34 points after 27 matches.
AMAZULU FC GAFFER – โWEโVE BEEN REWARDEDโ
โWeโve been rewarded because the players showed consistency even though our performances were fluctuating,โ Zwane added.
โBut we showed a lot of hunger and commitment. And yeah, weโve been rewarded by being in the top eight.
โItโs all up to us now to take it to the next level.โ
