Orlando Pirates interim coach Mandla Ncikazi believes a few of his players are in contention for the end-of-season PSL Awards.
The Buccaneers are second in the Betway Premiership and have already secured a spot in the CAF Champions League.
With two matches to go, Pirates can still stretch their record wins in a season. They are currently on 19 wins this season.
Speaking after the 1-0 win against SuperSport United at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Tuesday, Ncikazi believes there is still a lot to play for this season, including chasing the club record as well as the individual awards.

“Contrary to what people are saying that there is nothing to play for. There is so much to play for in our team,” said Ncikazi.
“One like you said the records are important in the club. These players must be part of the history of having done what has happened, like you are counting, game number 19.

WHICH PLAYERS HAS MANDLA NCIKAZI TIPPED TO WIN END-OF-THE SEASON PSL AWARDS?
“Secondly, there are still individual awards for all these players. The Goalkeeper of the Season might come from our club. A Defender of the Season might come out [of our team].
“[Nkosinathi] Sibisi has a big opportunity; [Deon] Hotto has a big opportunity. Tshego [Tshegofatso Mabasa] is chasing the leading goal scorer; there is still a big opportunity.
“Nothing is confirmed, and there is so much to play for. The history, but on top of this, these players are professionals.”
Meanwhile, the PSL has announced that this year’s end-of-season awards will not be held during the month of June as per usual. The league says the decision was taken because of Mamelodi Sundowns’ participation in the FIFA Club World Cup and the CAF Champions League final.
