Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has named his 41-member preliminary squad for the upcoming international friendlies in June, with Orlando Pirates players dominating the team.
South Africa has been in a good run of form in recent months after securing qualification for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco later this year.
Bafana are also in the quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they are sitting at the summit of Group C of the qualifiers with 13 points in six matches played.
In the recent camp, Bafana clashed against Lesotho and Benin, where they collected maximum points in both matches.
The 2023 AFCON bronze medalists claimed a crucial 2-0 win over Lesotho at the New Peter Mokaba on the 21st of March before defeating Benin with the same scoreline away from home a few days later.
Next month, Bafana are going to play two international friendlies as part of preparations for the final stages of the World Cup qualifiers.
11 ORLANDO PIRATES PLAYERS MAKE THE PRELIMINARY BAFANA SQUAD

Broos revealed the preliminary squad on Thursday with 11 Pirates players. Meanwhile, the national team doesn’t have players from Mamelodi Sundowns as they will be participating in the FIFA Club World Cup from June 14 to July 13, 2025.
Baafana will face Tanzania at the NewPeter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo, on Friday, June 6, 2025, with kick-off at 19:30. A second opponent is expected to be confirmed in the coming days, as stated by SAFA.
Broos’ troops will report for camp in Johannesburg on Sunday, June 1, 2025, before traveling to Polokwane on the same day.
