A PSL star is hoping that his consistent performances on the South African domestic stage will finally translate into a call-up to the Nigerian Super Eagles.

In recent years, the Nigerian National Team has experienced a noticeable dip in form compared to its historical successes.

Having missed out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Nigeria now faces the daunting prospect of a second consecutive absence from the worldโ€™s football showpiece event.

Their current qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup, to be hosted in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, has left their chances of progression appearing increasingly slim.

They are fourth in the Group C standings with Hugo Broosโ€™ Bafana Bafana sitting comfortably at the summit of the table.ย

As the West African nation strives to reclaim its past footballing glory, Stellenbosch FC midfielder Ibraheem Jabaar is eager to contribute, pursuing a dream call-up to the national squad.

JABAAR SAYS HE DREAMS ABOUT REPRESENTING SUPER EAGLES EVERYTIME

โ€œObviously, itโ€™s everyoneโ€™s dream to play for their country. So, I dream about it everytime,โ€ said Jabaar.

When asked what it would take to get himself there, he stated, โ€œI think it would depend on the coach. But if I get a call-up, obviously I would go there and do my job.โ€

Currently, two PSL playersOlisa Ndah [Orlando Pirates] and Stanley Nwabali [Chippa United] are already representing Nigeria. However, Ndah’s progress has recently been hampered by injuries.

โ€œObviously, [Iโ€™m inspired by Ndah and Nwabali],โ€ Jabaar added.

Having played continental football with Stellies in the CAF Confederation Cup, Jabaar also revealed that his next goal is to take his footballing journey to Europe.

โ€œLike Iโ€™ve always said, from the start, that I want to play in Europe. I know itโ€™s coming, Iโ€™m going to get there.โ€

This season, the former Under-17 Nigerian international, Jabaar made 41 appearances across all competitions for Stellies, netting one goal in the process.
