Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Khama Billiat has suffered a major blow at his Zimbabwean club, Scottland FC.

The 34-year-old joined Scottland FC in January after an impressive season in the books of Yadah FC during the 2024 Zimbabwe Premier League season.

Simply put, it was a comeback season after he unceremoniously disengaged the Soweto giants in June 2023. For Yadah FC, Billiat made 24 goal contributions as he was their natural point of difference.

He scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists. And he ended his maiden season in Zimbabwe with two major awards. Billiat was voted the second runner-up for the Player of the Season award. Moreover, he started the year on a special note after his decision to sign for Scottland FC.

Furthermore, he accounted for the Peopleโ€™s Choice Awards at the countryโ€™s Annual Sports Awards [ANSA], which were held in March.

EX-CHIEFS AND MAMELODI SUNDOWNS SUFFER A CALF INJURY

However, at Scottland FC, he is yet to live up to his billing, a team that has been dubbed the Galacticos of Zimbabwean football. The former PSL Player of the Season has only managed one goal and three assists in the 13 matches played so far.

Sadly, he has suffered a major blow as he hopes to rise above the waters while the Zimbabwean PSL slowly heats up. As a result, he missed his team’s clash against Chicken Inn on Friday.

The stylish forward has been sidelined after sustaining a calf injury. Though the severity of the injury has not been revealed but a calf injury typically takes four toย 12 weeksย to recover.

It remains to be seen when he will bounce back. Scottland FC need his vast experience in their quest to conquer the Zimbabwean league in their maiden season.

Nevertheless, he remains the highest-earning footballer in the Zimbabwean PSL. He earns huge sums for a footballer in Zimbabwe. He is pocketing R108 800 [US$ 6000] per month.
