Richards Bay FC closing in on Mhango and Mtshali

Gabadinho Mhango warming-up with teammates at Marumo Gallants

Richards Bay FC are on the verge of securing two signings for the upcoming 2025/26 season, with experienced forward Gabadinho Mhango and midfielder Lindokuhle Mtshali looking set to join the KZN side.

As first reported by FARPost, Mhango left Marumo Gallants most recently as the PSL season nears its conclusion on Friday, as SuperSport United take on Golden Arrows.ย

He has been with the Bloemfontein side since the beginning of the campaign when they purchased the top-flight status from Moroka Swallows. The Malawian attacker had an impressive season with Gallants, netting five goals and providing a single assist across 25 matches in all competitions.ย

Over the past seven Betway Premiership games, he saw limited action; he started once and came on as a substitute in another, totalling just two appearances.ย

Meanwhile, Mtshali is also set to depart Sekhukhune United after just one season, having joined the club at the beginning of the campaign from the now-defunct Swallows.ย

His 2024/25 season with the Limpopo side proved to be quite frustrating, struggling for playing time. Mtshali was afforded only two appearances throughout the entire campaign. ย

Towards the close of the season, Mtshali faced a club suspension in April due to an unapproved absence from the team. Although the issue was resolved and he returned to the squad, he did not feature in any more matches before the season concluded.ย

The two players, Mhango and Mtshali, played together at Swallows before the clubโ€™s status sale to the Abram Sello-owned side, Gallants.ย

RICHARDS BAY IN STRONG POSITION TO ACQUIRE MHANGO & MTSHALI

According to FARPost sources, Richards Bay are in a strong position to acquire both players, with the transfer window on the horizon.

This website contacted Mike Makaab, the agent representing both players, who would only confirm the “interest” from Richards Bay FC. However, he stressed that “nothing” had been finalised with the KZN outfit.ย

โ€œThere is interest but nothing has been finalised as yet, but there is interest,โ€ Makaab told FARPost.

Moreover, AmaZulu FC have also reportedly been interested in Mtshali, who has previously turned out for Golden Arrows and Real Kings.
