Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed their decision regarding midfielder Njabulo Blom, announcing that he will return to his parent club, Major League Soccer side St Louis City SC, following the conclusion of his loan spell.
The decision comes after the utility player struggled to secure a permanent contract with the Soweto giants.
Blom’s one-year loan from MSL outfit St Louis City SC ended with the close of the 2024/25 PSL season. Despite re-joining his boyhood club with an option to buy, he couldn’t impress and cement a starting position under coach Nasreddine Nabi.
The 25-year-old, a product of Chiefs’ youth academy, returned with expectations of leveraging the experience gained in the United States. However, as FARPost had previously reported, Chiefs were reportedly not convinced by Blom’s performances, coinciding with their struggles in the league.
Amakhosi ended the campaign in ninth place, marking their second consecutive failure to secure a top-eight finish. Nevertheless, they did break their 10-year trophy drought by clinching the 2025 Nedbank Cup.

In the process, Blom made 19 appearances for the Glamour Boys, but only started 10, featuring in both right-back and defensive midfield roles. Ultimately, Blom failed to replicate the form that earned him his MLS move in January 2023.
AMAKHOSI CONFIRM BLOM’S RETURN TO PARENT CLUB
“After completing his loan spell with Kaizer Chiefs, Njabulo Blom will return to his parent club, St. Louis City SC, in the United States of America,” the club said on Friday.
“Blom rejoined the Amakhosi at the beginning of September 2024 under an agreement to spend a season at his boyhood Club in the Betway Premiership.
“After donning the famous Gold & Black jersey for the second time in his career, the Dobsonville-born player departs Amakhosi with a Nedbank Cup gold medal, and we wish him all the best in Major League Soccer [MLS].
