Just a week after securing silver in the CAF Confederation Cup, South African coach Fadlu Davids has bagged another award in Tanzania.

Davids has had a fruitful season since taking over the reins at Simba SC in the Tanzanian Premier League at the beginning of the season.

The former Orlando Pirates coach took Simba SC to their first CAF Confederation Cup final, where they lost to Moroccoโ€™s RS Berkane. Under the guidance of Davids, Simba have also reached the semi-finals of the Federation Cup.

Following their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Singida Black Stars on Wednesday, Simba are now just a point behind log leaders and rivals Young Africans in the league.

WHICH LATEST AWARD DID FADLU DAVIDS WIN IN TANZANIA?

The 44-year-old has been voted the NBC Premier League Coach of the Month for May. This comes after Davids and his side won five out of five matches. It is also the third time that Davids has been named Coach of the Month since his arrival in Tanzania.

But Davids has expressed concern about his troops’ fixture schedule, especially after playing the league match three days after competing in the Confederation Cup final.

SIMBA SC HEAD COACH FADLU DAVIDS ON HIS PLAYERS’ MENTALITY

โ€œYou canโ€™t put a game two days after a cup final. Itโ€™s not fair,โ€ he told journalists. โ€œWe played a CAF Confederation Cup final on Sunday, and then a Premier League match on Wednesday. Normally, this shouldnโ€™t happen.โ€

Both Simba and Young Africans are left with three matches to play before the end of the season. Davids believes the team with the best mentality will come out on top for the title.

โ€œItโ€™s not always about playing the best football. At this stage of the season, itโ€™s about mentality, and we have shown we have the mentality to compete and fight.โ€
