Abdeslam Ouaddou has fired back at Marumo Gallants’ recent statement regarding his departure, stating that he won’t submit a resignation letter to the club.
On Monday, 2 June, Gallants released a statement setting the record straight on the Moroccan coach’s resignation as the club’s head coach.
In the statement, the Betway Premiership side, Gallants, cited that they haven’t received a resignation letter from the coach. This comes after the former English Premier League footballer announced his departure from Bahlabane ba Ntwa three days ago through a statement.
Ouaddou joined the Bloemfontein-based outfit in March 2025, taking over the coaching reins from Dan Malesela.
During his stint at Gallants, Ouaddou was in charge of 12 matches in all competitions. He managed to win five games, drew four, and succumbed to three defeats.
ABDESLAM OUADDOU’S REACTION TO MARUMO GALLANTS’ STATEMENT
In response to Gallants’ statement, Ouaddou mentioned that he will not submit a resignation letter to the club since chairman Abram Sello informed him that he cannot extend his contract for another season due to financial constraints.

Ouaddou insists that the club should release him on mutual agreement.
“From France, I would like to react to the press release from Marumo Gallants’ club: I have started to build solid foundations for sustainable performance in Bloemfontein both sportingly and humanely,” said Ouaddou.
“A 40-page project written by me was delivered to the chairman following an audit I did during my time in Bloemfontein to build a great club with youth teams and an Elite Academy to develop the next South African generation of boys and girls.
“My wish has always been to continue this great adventure with the club, my players, our supporters and our sponsors, and I had the honour of saying so on Robert Marawa’s show this week.”
He continued: “But the chairman shocked me this week during a meeting in Johannesburg, where he confided in me in despair that he could not financially honour the option on my contract next season. I cannot, therefore, send a termination letter since he is the one who cannot pay his coach. So I think he unfortunately needs to be a realistic and honest man about the situation and release his coach by mutual agreement.
“My mission and my objectives have been achieved. He needs to maintain this harmonious and cordial relationship that we have maintained during these four months together.”
