Andries Ulderink has arrived at Cape Town City FC, and the Dutchman is set to immediately take charge as the club prepares for the crucial PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs.
FARPost can confirm that Ulderink led Wednesday morningโs training session, signalling his immediate involvement in the team’s preparations.
A formal objection has been lodged by CT City with the PSL regarding the decision to resume the second-half of the match between SuperSport United and Lamontville Golden Arrows. This Betway Premiership fixture, initially abandoned on February 23, 2025, due to a floodlight failure, was completed last Thursday.
CT City’s protest centres on a violation of PSL Article 14.16, which states that such a match should have resumed within 48 hours. The clubโs chairman, John Comitis, firmly asserts that the non-adherence to this rule renders the decision to continue the match from the second half null and void.
The impending hearing will be pivotal in determining the legitimacy of the 1-1 draw and whether further action will be mandated. The outcome of this objection holds immense weight for Cape Town City’s survival in the league, directly impacting their participation in the playoffs. Their fate hangs on the arbitration’s verdict and the PSL’s commitment to its own rulebook.
With both CT City and SuperSport United finishing the 2024/25 season on 27 points in the league, SuperSport’s superior goal difference unfortunately relegated City to the dreaded playoffs.

ANDRIES ULDERINK PREPARES CAPE TOWN CITY FC
Nonetheless, the 55-year-old UEFA A License holder has landed in Cape Town, fresh from his role as assistant coach to Philippe Clement at Scottish Premier League giants Glasgow Rangers.
Ulderink is no stranger to the South African football scene, having previously managed Ajax Cape Town between 2018 and 2020 before his return to the Netherlands with FC Twente.
The hot seat at Cape Town City became vacant on New Yearโs Eve following the departure of Eric Tinkler, a consequence of a string of disappointing results. Muhsin Ertugral stepped in as interim coach and technical advisor, but his tenure was short-lived. The 65-year-old was sacked in March after just 14 games in charge, which included a dire nine-game winless streak.
Since his initial stint in South African football, Ulderink has crafted an impressive coaching CV, serving as an assistant at esteemed clubs such as Twente, Belgium’s Royal Antwerp, and most recently, Rangers.
This wealth of experience, primarily as a second-in-command, has now culminated in a head coaching opportunity.
