Former Bafana Bafana, Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy star, Vuyo Mere has penned an emotional farewell following his confirmation that he has officially retired from football.
Mereโs professional career dates back to 2001 when he played for the now-defunct Hellenic.
The 41-year-old also featured for the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, Platinum Stars, Bidvest Wits, Moroka Swallows and more recently TS Galaxy.
It was at the Mpumalanga-based side, Galaxy, that Mere last played a professional match. He also had a short stint as an assistant coach before he resigned and subsequently left the club.

In an official post on Wednesday, Mere expressed gratitude to all the clubs that gave him an opportunity to play football.
โIt’s been an amazing 23 years of professional football, which was filled with lots of great and bad memories,โ Mere wrote on his Instagram account.

โI just wanna thank my God for the great opportunity, good health, protection and a willing heart to respect my career and everyone around it.
โI wanna thank everyone who contributed to my amazing career, which started in the dusty streets of Bloemfontein, playing for City Leopards, UK Babies, Liverpool FC, Mangaung United, and finally making my way to the Hellenic academy.โ

โI have won many trophies right through my career and played with the most talented players across the continent, and it’s all because God and my ancestors made it possible, and I am truly grateful to all the teams that gave me an opportunity to showcase my talent.
