Ex-Cape Town City striker Fagrie Lakay has been tipped to return to the PSL amid indications he is set to leave Pyramids FC of Egypt.
The 28-year-old joined Pyramids on a two-and-a-half-year deal in January 2022. At that time, the 2024/25 CAF Champions League winners beat Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns for his signature.
The SA striker went on to produce plausible performances for Pyramids FC. But he fell down the pecking order at the club following the arrival of the highly-rated hitman Fiston Mayele.
Mayele joined the club in June 2023 from Tanzanian Premier League giants Yanga SC. The Congolese star has carved a niche at the Cairo-based club, particularly after playing a key role in their CAF Champions League triumph.
On the other hand, Lakay was loaned to another Egyptian side, Cleopatra FC, in October 2024. In the 2024/25 season, he has featured in 30 matches across all competitions, where he contributed five goals and eight assists.

In addition, he was in action on Wednesday as Cleopatra FC beat Ismaily 2-0 in the semi-final of the Egyptian League Cup in the first-leg. Crucially, his contract with Pyramids ends on the 30th of June. It is not clear if they will renew his stay at the club.
STRIKER FAGRIE LAKAY READY TO LISTEN TO PSL OFFERS
A source close to FARPost has revealed that the former CT City star is ready to listen to PSL offers if Pyramids doesn’t renew his contract.
“He is ready to listen to PSL offers if they [Pyramids] do not renew his contract. A number of clubs are actually targeting him,” a source said.
Undoubtedly, the coming weeks will be crucial in determining Lakay’s future. Meanwhile, his performances have also caused him to lose his place in Bafana Bafana. And a return to the PSL could present him with a chance to impress coach Hugo Broos.
