Sekhukhune United have opted to part ways with AFCON-winning goalkeeper Badra Sangare following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, FARPost has reliably learned.
The veteran goalkeeper, Sangare, struggled for game-time in the second round of the just-ended Betway Premiership season.
Before falling out of favour at Sekhukhune, Sangare was a first-choice goalie early in the campaign under the then-head coach Lehlohonolo Seema.
In what was a shock move, Sekhukhune fired Seema halfway through the previous season despite the coach turning the club into one of the most competitive sides in the league.
After showing Seema the exit door, Babina Noko roped in the former Cape Town City FC coach Eric Tinkler as their new head coach. Tinklerโs arrival at Sekhukhune saw Sangare fall down the pecking order, losing his position as the number one shot stopper at the team.
The experienced tactician has preferred Renaldo Leaner ahead of the 39-year-old goalkeeper in the starting line-up. Prior to being relegated to the bench, Sangare had featured in 23 matches in all competitions for Sekhukhune, kept nine clean sheets, and conceded 25 goals.
SEKHUKHUNE OPTS AGAINST TAKING THE OPTION ON SANGARE’S CONTRACT

Sangre is a free agent after the Limpopo-based side opted against taking the one-year option on his contract. His existing contract will expire on the 30th of June 2025.
The former Free State Stars goalkeeper has been with Sekhukhune for three seasons after joining from Motsepe Foundation Championship side JDR Stars in 2022.
Last season, Sangare was competing with Lloyd Kazapua and Renaldo Leaner for a position in the goalkeeping department. Meanwhile, Sangare was also part of the Ivory Coast team that won the 2023 AFCON title on their home soil.
On the other hand, Sekhukhune will welcome ex-Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm as one of their new signings for the 2025/26 campaign. Timm left the Soweto giants a few weeks ago after his contract was not renewed.
