‘The truth’: Mike Makaab on Sipho Mbule and Kaizer Chiefs

Sipho Mbule with Mamelodi Sundowns

Football Agent Mike Makaab has responded to reports linking Sipho Mbule with a move to Kaizer Chiefs for the upcoming 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

Mbule is a free agent after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns over a week ago, with his contract set to expire on the 30th of June 2025.

Sundowns opted not to exercise the two-year extension option on the highly-rated midfielder’s contract, reportedly due to concerns over his off-field behaviour.

Mbule joined the Tshwane giants in 2022 from rivals SuperSport United, spending two seasons with the Brazilians. In the recently concluded campaign, the player affectionately known as ‘MasterChef’ was on a season-long loan at Sekhukhune United, where he aimed to secure more game-time.

SIPHO MBULE’S LOAN STINT AT SEKHUKHUNE UNITED WAS CUT SHORT

Mbule had a great start to life at Sekhukhune, playing regularly under the then-head coach Lehlohonolo Seema. He made 17 appearances across all competitions at Babina Noko, scored two goals, and provided three assists.

Mbule’s loan spell with Sekhukhune was cut short amid disciplinary concerns. The issues allegedly include coming to training under the influence of alcohol.

During his time at Sundowns, Mbule played 51 matches, scoring three goals and chipping in with only one assist.

After his departure from Masandawana, rumours have been making the rounds about a potential move for the 27-year-old to Amakhosi.

Mbule’s agent, Makaab, has since revealed that there have been no talks with Chiefs about signing the former SuperSport star on a free transfer.

“I don’t know where the talks that Sipho Mbule is going to Kaizer Chiefs are coming from. All I can tell you is that the rumours are not true,” Makaab told FARPost.

“As I said, there hasn’t been any formal approach from any team about the services of Mbule. So we’ll look at all the best possible options to get him a club.”
