Orlando Pirates defender Deano van Rooyen has praised Nkosinathi Sibisi, highlighting the key leadership traits that make him a formidable presence on the field.
Hugo Broos‘ charges are set to face neighbours Mozambique this Tuesday, June 10th, at the New Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The match kicks off at 19:30.
Pirates defender Sibisi will captain Bafana Bafana in this fixture. Sibisi was intentionally rested during Friday’s 0-0 draw against Tanzania at the same venue, as Broos had him earmarked to lead the national team against Mozambique.
Sibisi and Stellenbosch FC’s Fawaaz Basadien were named captains for these two international friendlies.
Basadien wore the armband against Tanzania, with Sibisi now taking over for the upcoming clash. Sibisi and Stellies player Deano Van Rooyen are familiar with each other, as they are teammates at Pirates, where Sibisi also serves as one of the club captains.

WHAT DEANO VAN ROOYEN SAID ABOUT NKOSINATHI SIBISI’S LEADERSHIP
Van Rooyen mentioned that Sibisi is a person who prefers not to speak much. However, he performs excellently on the field and leads his side with aplomb.
“You know, he is someone who doesn’t talk a lot. But except when he is in the field of play,” said van Rooyen when asked what kind of a leader Sibisi is.
“His work speaks for itself. I think he is that kind of leader and excels in the field, and that is good for us.”
In addition, Van Rooyen played the entire 90 minutes on his Bafana debut against the Taifa Stars on Friday.
The 28-year-old van Rooyen will be hoping to take part in Bafana’s game against Mozambique and partner with his teammate, Sibisi at the back.
