Ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Given Thibedi has spoken out about the new opportunity presented to him by Orbit College FC, marking a significant step in his bid to revive his football career.

Thibedi joined the Motsepe Foundation Championship side, based in the North West, in the January transfer window period, searching for greener pastures.

Since joining Orbit College FC from Casric Stars approximately four months ago, the talented midfielder, affectionately known as ‘Manando’, has already featured in eight matches for his new club.

Thibedi was also a part of the Orbit College squad that qualified for the upcoming PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs, which are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

In an interview with this publication, the 27-year-old midfielder expressed his profound happiness at being given another chance to play football. Thibedi also highlighted the rarity of finding a coach, like Pogiso Makhoye, who demonstrates such faith in a player’s abilities even when facing personal challenges.

“It is a blessing, my brother, to be honest. You know, it is very rare to find a coach who believes in your talent and everything that has to do with you as a player,” Thibedi told FARPost.

“I’m truly blessed to have been granted this opportunity. Thanks to God for giving me another chance to go back onto the field of play.

“I won’t lie to you; I’m very happy here [at Orbit College]. So far, everything is going well, and I can’t complain about anything at this moment.”

With the 2024/25 season concluded, Orbit College, having finished in third place, now shifts its focus to a crucial fixture. Thebedi’s team is set to face Casric Stars on Wednesday, June 11, at 15:00 at Olympia Stadium in their opening PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoff tie.

Orbit College FC, Casric Stars, and Cape Town City FC will now compete in this three-team playoff mini-league, battling for a coveted spot in the Betway Premiership next season.
