Prominent football agent Mike Makaab apologised to Kaizer Chiefs regarding his recent transfer remarks concerning midfielder Sipho Mbule and the Soweto giants.
Mbule is set to become a free agent at the end of June, as Mamelodi Sundowns opted not to extend his contract.
In the just-ended PSL season, the talented midfielder was on loan at Sekhukhune United, but his spell at the club was cut short due to disciplinary issues—a recurring problem that has seemingly followed him throughout his career.
On Sunday, his agent, Mike Makaab, publicly stated on X that Mbule had been offered to Chiefs. “Let me set the record straight. Sipho Mbule has been offered to Kaizer Chiefs,” Makaab admitted.

However, just a day later, Makaab issued an apology to Amakhosi and the club’s sporting director, Kaizer Motaung Jr, describing his previous statement as an “emotional reaction.”
“I reacted in an emotional manner without giving enough thought as to how this would be seen by all the stakeholders and Kaizer Chiefs,” said Makaab. “I apologise to the SD Kaizer Jr and the club, as it was never my intention to create any problem for both him and the club.
Makaab’s apology also clarified his stance on Chiefs, aiming to dispel misconceptions. “Contrary to what most of the supporters believe, I have nothing but respect and admiration for a great institution that has played such a major role in SA football,” he added.
“I’m taking a small break from social media and hope to speak to all of you soon.”
Makaab’s expression of regret also came after an earlier interview with FARPost, where he had voiced his surprise at rumours linking Mbule to Chiefs. In addition, he stated that no formal talks between the club and the player were underway.
