Former PSL top goal scorer James Chamanga has revealed what his next career path will be following his retirement from playing at the age of 45. He decided to retire after a 25-year career.
His career includes a stint in South Africa, where he played for the likes of SuperSport United, Bush Bucks, as well as Moroka Swallows.
In South Africa, his prominence came after scoring the most goals in a single match in the elite league when he netted five goals for Swallows against Platinum Stars in a 6-2 victory back in 2007.
But the record has since been matched by Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners. Rayners scored five goals during Stellenbosch FCโs 5-0 win against Polokwane City FC in April last year. Chamanga was also the PSL top goal scorer during the 2007/08 season.

Chamanga has been playing for Zambian Premier League side Red Arrows since 2019. He announced his retirement last month.
WHAT JAMES CHAMANGA INTENDS TO DO FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT
โI am still going to be involved in football. I am just doing my coaching badges,โ said Chamanga in an interview with FARPost.
โPeople were wondering why I wasn’t doing my badges but focusing on playing. But I knew I couldn’t concentrate on doing both because I am not in a hurry. I am very confident in terms of what I can’t contribute, even though I don’t have the badges now.”
The retired PSL striker added:ย โBut I am still going to go to school. But for now, I am going to be working around the position of striker coach, to be specific. We are still discussing with my current club Red Arrows in detail. If we come to an agreement, then I will be working with strikers.โ
